Siemens Healthineers enters pact with Narayana, HCG…

Siemens Healthineers, the German medtech company on Friday said it has entered into a strategic partnership with Narayana Health, HealthCare Global Enterprises and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), to bolster digital healthcare at its innovation center in Bommasandra, Bengaluru.

The partnership with Narayana Health will focus on advancing cardiovascular care and digital transformation in healthcare by building on the capabilities from both organizations, while the tie-up with HCG aims to make cancer care more personalized through the application of diagnostic imaging technologies and artificial intelligence.

The collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will aim towards research and co-creation of technologies that improve imaging, and address access to care.

Siemens Healthineers is building a new campus in Bengaluru housing research and development, manufacturing, and sales, and an innovation center with an investment outlay of Rs 1,300 crores. The new campus, expected to be opened in 2025, would be Siemens Healthineers’ largest ever single investment made in India. The Bengaluru campus will drive digitalisation and expansion of product portfolio.

Siemens, which has been present in India since 1927, began manufacturing X-Ray machines and laboratory diagnostic reagents at its factories in Mumbai and Vadodara from 1950s and finally launched its R&D centre in Bengaluru in 1994. The company is also making CT scan machines in India using the government ‘s production linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

“These partnerships are big steps in making India an innovation center for Siemens Healthineers globally,” Peter Schardt, chief technology officer, Siemens Healthineers.

“India is a strategic market for Siemens Healthineers and it plays an important role in global innovation and technology expansion to achieve the future of healthcare,” Schardt added.
