Muscat – Committed to building an inclusive, accessible and high-quality healthcare ecosystem, the sultanate has taken various initiatives to develop the sector. It has also been encouraging thought-leadership forums that focus on innovation, excellence and raising the standards of efficiency in the sector.

In line with this, the Oman Health Exhibition and Conference (OHEC) is scheduled to take place from September 26 to 28 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hall No 5.

The event will be inaugurated by H H Sayyid Fahr bin Fatik al Said.

Organised by CONNECT (Oman Exhibitions Organising Company) in partnership with the sultanate’s Ministry of Health (MoH), the event will be supported by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, the Directorate General of Quality Assurance Centre (DGQAC) and Directorate General of Private Health Establishments.

The Oman Health Conference will be organised by Oman Medical Association, which is accredited by the Oman Medical Speciality Board and CPD certified. Cigna, the renowned healthcare and insurance company, will be the silver sponsor of the event.

Exhibition timings are 9am to 8pm, while the conference will follow a predefined agenda from 9am to 4.15pm on all three days. The exhibition has registered over 150 local and international exhibitors and expects to welcome more than 5,000 visitors.

MoH’s booth – No 1018 – a key highlight of the exhibition, is set to target innovative solutions impacting healthcare.

Speaking about the exhibition, Dr Qamra Said al Sariri, director general of Quality Assurance Centre in MoH, said, “Establishing the Directorate General of Quality Assurance Centre (DGQAC) was a critical addition to MoH in 2014. It has aided in deploying a strong quality management system to improve both services and staff performance across all levels. We are, therefore, ready to meet the needs of the next phase of Oman Vision 2040. DGQAC is continuously raising the quality of healthcare services and patient safety in all institutions of the MoH by strictly adhering to international standards.”

She described the Innovation Section as a vital factor complementing continuous improvement. “It will continue to play a key role in building the innovation management framework that will encourage unique projects and intrapreneurship in MoH. OHEC will provide us an excellent opportunity to exchange lessons learnt in healthcare and intrapreneurship, and simultaneously collaborate with key stakeholders locally and globally to set new benchmarks.”

As one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world, the sultanate acknowledges that healthcare goes beyond being an ethical or social imperative. It forms one of the most essential pillars that contributes to the long-term development of a nation’s economy and its sustained progress.
