CLIC Award announced by Magill Leave a comment

Dr. Jean OwellettMontreal – The 5th McGill Clinical Innovation Competition and Awards Ceremony took place virtually in May. Inspired by Dr. Raymond Hakim, the Magill Clinical Innovation Competition (CLIC) encourages members of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences community to devise and develop promising ideas that have a direct and positive impact on healthcare in Canada and around the world. Is aimed at.

The top teams this year are:

Received the Hakim Family Innovation Award
SeeSpine
SeeSpine is a telemedicine application that leverages 3D imaging and artificial intelligence for scoliosis. SeeSpine allows patients and physicians to screen for scoliosis and monitor its progress remotely. SeeSpine reconstructs a torso model from a simple 15-second video taken with a smartphone to quantify asymmetry and predict curve progression. SeeSpine’s radiation-free technology enables frequent observations to reduce the progression of scoliosis and the associated risk of breast cancer.

The competition has been successful for four years now. McGill CLIC is very grateful to the sponsors for providing the following awards at this year’s 5th Annual Convention.

  • The Hakim Family Innovation Award recognizes healthcare ideas, new processes, or devices that may have a specific and meaningful impact on the patients entrusted with our care.
  • Marika Zelenkaloy Innovation Prize was launched in partnership with the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. There are two award categories for this award. The first award recognizes the best solution to unmet clinical needs for patient care and the most likely successful translation. The second award recognizes innovations that improve patient safety / quality or address unmet clinical needs through simulation.
  • Organized by the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infectionand Immunity, the MI4 Innovation Prize aims to support innovative solutions focused on infectious and immune threats to human health. Two winners will be selected for this award.
  • The Bereskin & Parr Innovation Prize recognizes clinical innovation with the greatest potential for commercial value proposition.

Proposals are submitted by teams or individuals with the goal of improving health outcomes, access to patient health, or the efficiency and effectiveness of medical care.

The proposed improvements come in many forms, including:

  • Product Innovation-Devices, Diagnostics, Technology Platforms
  • Clinical “Part 1” – New Programs and Procedures
  • Process Innovation – New Delivery Model

Proposals submitted to McGill CLIC will be reviewed and finalists will be selected by an independent jury and invited to propose ideas.
