GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A festival focused on ideas and innovation is hosting a speaker series in April focused on healthcare, equity and innovation.

The Confluence Festival speaker series is taking place April 19-20 at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine, 15 Michigan St. NE. The event is free and open to the public, and it will also be broadcast online, according to a news release.

Here’s the panel lineup for the event:

April 19

5:30-6:30 p.m.: Innovation Cycle and Medtech Startups. Dr. Norman Beauchamp, Dr. Anthony Chang and Ollie Howie in conversation with Birgit Klohs. 6:45-7:45p: Designing the Future of Healthcare, Part 1: Grand Rapids Medical Mile. Jerry Callahan and Dr. Darryl Elmouchi in conversation with Dr. Roger Jansen.

8-9 p.m.: Designing the Future of Healthcare, Part 2: Digital Health. Dr. Michael App, Joseph Brennan and Dr. Roger Jansen in conversation with Gordon Stannis.

April 20

5:30-6:30 p.m.: Health Equity: Health Disparities and the Digital Divide. Amy Chambers, Dr. Kyle McGregor and Darren Riley in conversation with Megan Rydecki.

6:45-7:45 p.m.: Talent Pipeline: Pathways to Equity. Robyn Afrik, Dr. Lisa Lowery, Darius Quinn and Skot Welch in conversation with Jamon Alexander.

8-9 p.m.:Human Centered Design in Healthcare. Kristina Emery, Taryn Kutches, John Malnor and Joel Van Wyk in conversation with Jonathan Moroney.

The Confluence Festival launched last year and was held in September at Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids. This year, the festival is hosting the April speaker series as well as music showcase on Sept. 24.
