Irish innovators find cutting-edge cures for healthcare Leave a comment

Ireland’s healthcare system has been struggling to reduce waiting lists since the pandemic and the ransomware attack on the HSE in May last year.

When the government launched its waiting list action plan in February, more than 730,000 people were waiting for care. It reckons a further 1.5 million will be added this year, as those who held off during Covid come forward.

If long waiting lists are the ailment, innovative start-ups are helping to provide the remedy.

A group of radiologists set up xWave Technologies in 2020 to improve the referral process for radiology services. Its first commercial product, xRefer, reduces the time it takes to create a referral and gets it approved by a radiologist in just 14 minutes rather than several hours.
