CONCLUSIONS OF THE CERTAM EVALUATION OF MARCH 4, 2019
Since the first version evaluated by CERTAM, “OrCam MyEye V2” to gain in performance. The solution got rid of a wired connection thanks to a small and light base directly attached to the frame of a pair of glasses but, with a smaller battery, it lost in autonomy capacity.
In spite of a less stigmatizing device, faster and more performing in the recognition of texts and faces, its use in mobility still keeps the same limits: notably the difficulties met by a blind person to isolate and discriminate a relevant information among the quantity of textual contents present or not in its environment.
Compared to the previous version of V2, which was limited to a sound reproduction by a small speaker, the management of Bluetooth and wireless headsets meeting this standard is really an advantage in mobility or in environments where silence is required.
The function of entering Wi-Fi identifiers by reading a QR code seems to us to lack simplicity. This element, as well as the use of the configuration menu options, should soon be resolved by a mobile application available with a future update.
