Top official leaves Arizona Department of Health Services Leave a comment

PHOENIX– The Arizona Department of Health Services is losing one of its top officials as Jessica Rigler, a state leader during COVID-19, is leaving her job for a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, azcentral reported Friday.

Rigler held the title of assistant director for the department’s Division of Public Health Preparedness. She started the position when former ADHS director Dr. Cara Christ also left for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.

According to the ADHS website, Rigler most recently worked to lead critical public health responses to opoids and COVID-19.

Rigler has been with the department for over 12 years, overseeing the Division of Public Health Preparedness which incorporates: Epidemiology and Disease Control, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health Statistics, and the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory, according to the website.

Rigler became the state’s first healthcare associated infections coordinator and led the Bureau of Epidemiology and Disease Control.

She is also a certified health education specialist and certified in infection control, according to ADHS.

Rigler will take on the title of staff vice president of population health and innovation with BCBSAZ, according to azcentral.
