HHS innovation challenge targets human trafficking prevention
At its National Human Trafficking Prevention Summit, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a national innovation challenge to prevent human trafficking of women and girls. The challenge will award 20 programs that prevent human trafficking and/or improve related health outcomes $50,000 each, then up to $100,000 more to eight programs that go on to successfully expand or replicate to increase their impact. The challenge aligns with priorities identified by the HHS Task Force to Prevent Human Trafficking, National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking, and National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.
As part of the AHA’s Hospitals Against Violence initiative, the AHA, Jones Day and HEAL Trafficking have created resources to help health care providers fight the global scourge of human trafficking.
