Mr. Santhosh K, Head IT, Dr. Shalaka Sawant, Head Quality, and Ms. Aarti Irani, Head PR and Communications, Jehangir Hospital, received the “Digital Business Innovation Award for Healthcare.” The last two years have been exciting at Jehangir Hospital as it underwent a paradigm change by providing digital tools to teams in order to deliver patient-centered treatment.
Numerous digital projects were successfully implemented thanks to the cooperation of specialists, administrative leaders, and staff. Among these initiatives are:
PACS (picture archiving and communication system) is a medical imaging technology that securely stores and digitally transmits therapeutically relevant pictures and reports.
BOTS (Blood Order & Transfusion safety). A one-of-a-kind digital platform for online blood ordering and transfusion safety that allows for real-time communication between the hospital and the blood centre for blood ordering, order tracking, haemovigilance, and adverse reaction reporting Document Record Management System.
This technology aids in the storage of digitised patient information in an organised and collaborative place that is digitally available at all times. All of this is done while keeping data privacy and record confidentiality in mind. User logins and privileges are set up in this manner.
With the use of digital technology in operations management, hospitals have also been able to improve the delivery process, standardise, and boost the quality of porter services. The Porter Management System allows one-stop shopping by allowing online labour booking as well as event tracking from assignment to final delivery.
After receiving the request on their mobile device, the nearest porter can begin the trip to the chosen location. Smart analytics give utilisation information for each porter. This technology removes the need for phone calls, human reservations, and repeated calls to locate the porter.
In the recently conducted Quantic India in partnership with IBM Digital Technology Excellence Award, Jehangir Hospital earned a “Digital Business Innovation Award for Healthcare.”

“With the use of digital technology in operations management, we have been able to reduce the cost, improve the delivery process as well as standardise and improve the quality of porter services. We will be continuing this journey of digitization and technological enhancement in healthcare in the future,” added Mr. Santhosh.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Vinod Sawantwadkar, CEO of Jehangir Hospital said, “This is a reward for the hard work put in by the entire Jehangir Hospital team. When the foundation is strong, our legacy of care can soar higher into the skies of medical excellence and for us, the sky would not be limited.”
Technological developments have also reached patients’ bedsides, assisting in making substantial contributions to patient safety. The computerised Modified early warning scoring system was one such project. This programme received recognition for patient safety at the FICCI Healthcare Excellence award.
Digitization has considerably benefitted the hospital in a variety of ways. Costs have been reduced and, more importantly, mistakes have been reduced as a result of precise and automated data collection. Patient satisfaction has increased, as has care delivery, while staff management has improved and operational management efficiency has taken root.
Technology will have the greatest impact on healthcare, and it will continue to increase rapidly in the future; hospital accomplishments are only a glimpse of emerging trends.
