EasyBag – the little French miracle that keeps insulin cool for days without electricity MedActiv has developed the EasyBag for the safe transport of insulin without electricity.
The EasyBag uses gel crystals specially developed for MedActiv that cool the insulin when brought into contact with water.
To activate the EasyBag, simply immerse it in water for 40 seconds. The crystals in the EasyBag’s panels turn into a gel that stays cool for up to five days by relying on an evaporation process that will keep the insulin at a temperature between 16 and 25°C.
Insulin can be stored for up to one month at this temperature. To “refill” the EasyBag, simply immerse it in water again for 40 seconds. The EasyBag is available in two sizes: EasyBag Single (for one pen) and EasyBag Classic for 5 insulin pens and vials. Less hassle for diabetics who want to travel The EasyBag allows diabetics to carry their insulin safely when traveling, to work or on vacation. If insulin is exposed to extreme temperatures, it is damaged and loses its effectiveness very quickly. This is a major concern for diabetics when traveling to countries with high ambient temperatures. “At 27°C, insulin will lose 14% of its effectiveness over a one-month period. It is therefore crucial not to exceed the 25°C threshold.
Today, anyone with a chronic disease is defined by their daily lifestyle. The EasyBag gives users the freedom to travel knowing that their insulin is kept at exactly the right temperature, anywhere, anytime,” says Uwe DIEGEL, President of MedActiv.
