Health communities in the UAE have hailed the Global Wellness Day as a significant day to unite people and communities to raise awareness for a healthy living.

“Physical fitness gets plenty of attention, and for good reasons help us maintain independence as we age. We know that a healthy body prevents illnesses and mental health is just as important. Your best self is described by an ideal state of physical, emotional and mental state,” said Shafi Co-Owner, Manal Al Mubarak.

“We live and learn. A blessing is to have a sense of gratefulness and appreciating all the little things. If you want to exercise your brain, perhaps you can read a book and head to a happy state,” said Manal Al Mubarak.

She noted that from a wellness standpoint, it is important to maintain a healthy living not just for the body, but for the mind and soul as well.

“Global Wellness Day is a day dedicated to encourage people to live well,” added Lola Al Mubarak, a Medical Professional in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Edward Mannion, a healthcare professional, noted that practicing gratitude is a powerful way for us to live. Being thankful helps us guard against bitterness and other harmful attitudes, even when our circumstances are difficult, thankfulness benefits us well in bringing joy to our wellbeing.

“Take a moment to find that time to reflect, and be still, listening to the sound of silence, it is indeed celebration of life,” said Edward.

Ramzi Al Mubarak, whose sister Amira died of an autoimmune disease last year, highlighted that every part of our life influences our state of well-being in one way, shape or form.

Amira Al Mubarak died barely a month after being diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, a condition in which the immune system assaults the liver cells.

In April 2021, she slipped into a coma and unfortunately died a few days later, at the age of 29.

He stated that the interpretation of wellbeing is quite subjective, and one’s own definition largely depends on the way they see it.

“June 11 is marked across the world, as the Global Wellness Day, reminding us that our survival is only possible if we opt for healthy living – physically, socially, spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally,” said Ramzi.
