Our Values Are Collaboration, Customer-centricity, Integrity & Innovation: Edifecs Leave a comment

Please share a little bit about your organization – Your services, type of customers, markets that you service and what you’ll do in India
Edifecs is a premier technology company in the US Healthcare market with solutions focused on interoperability, workflows, value-based care payments, and risk adjustment analytics. With innovative technology and solutions, Edifecs helps its customers by optimizing the secure exchange and processing of administrative and clinical data, reducing the cost of meeting various regulations, and automating workflows involved in multiple core processes within the healthcare ecosystem. Edifecs is a frontrunner in bringing new technology for B2B data exchange in healthcare streamlining business processes from “card to care,” and reducing the industry burden associated with data provisioning at the points of enrollment, care, payment, and risk adjustment. With the advent of FHIR and new regulatory guidance from HHS, Edifecs has emerged as a leader in easing the effort associated with achieving compliance with new federal rules and in making the healthcare consumer the primary stakeholder. The company is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, with additional offices in Atlanta, Georgia; San Francisco, California; Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and Mohali, India; engineering centers in Moldova, Belarus, and Ukraine, and has more than 1,000 employees.

India is a primary source of engineering and technical talent for Edifecs. As our founder and I are both from India, it has always been important to us to create jobs, rewarding career paths, and local offices where we are more family than colleagues and we care and look after one another.

What is the USP of your organization vis-à-vis competition?
Here at Edifecs, we focus on our people. We understand that by prioritising their wellbeing and proactively caring for them, they can produce their best work and live their best lives. Our colleagues are our family and we treat them as such. That’s why our People & Culture team made a fundamental and important change in the way we approach our employee benefits. Instead of offering a program for health or financial savings, we shifted our entire program to put our associates at the centre and build benefits designed to support their holistic wellbeing. We offer financial, onsite healthcare, and screening, a vast array of virtual classes including meditation, yoga, core breathing, cooking, nutrition, strength training, and more. Most importantly, we are looking to care for every aspect of our associate’s wellbeing and we extend these offerings to their families as well.

Our values are collaboration, customer-centricity, integrity, and innovation. These aren’t just words to us, they inform and drive our actions.

Considering India is a strategic base for Edifecs Global customers, what are 3 key things you’ll do to keep the India team engaged with and about your customers?
Our India team provides product engineering and development support on some of our most critical technology. They are also responsible for the strategic integration of technology across our product lines and at our customer sites.  Additionally, we train our India-based associates on our implementation and support team to directly work with and support our customers. They are integral to our product development and our customer success and they understand the importance of the role they play.

We also share monthly industry analysis reports. This gives all our teams perspective on the trends and mandates occurring in our market space and how they impact our customers.

We have featured customers as speakers in our Alliance for Women of Edifecs (AWE) global events to learn more about their career successes. This allowed our associates to interact directly with our customers and learn from their experience directly. We hold monthly All Hands meetings where we share key wins. We also send company-wide emails to share the details of our customer go-lives.

We created a very detailed COVID-19 response plan to clearly communicate our policies. Further, we created a localized COVID response team to ensure our customers had 24/7 support. Our teams around the world worked in coordination to close any gaps and address any issues caused by the pandemic.

What are some of the activities you’ll have undertaken to increase women leadership in this space? And what have been the quantifiable results until now?
I believe that to thrive, companies need leadership that is diverse and inclusive. But, we must understand the challenges we face to make meaningful change. We need to ensure that Edifecs continues to be an inclusive company fostering a great culture where our associates from diverse backgrounds and genders thrive, have a great work environment, and career growth, ultimately helping us achieve our vision.

One of our key objectives is to ensure that women associates have equal opportunities to progress into leadership positions, excel in career paths of their choice and that all such decisions are made purely based on merit without any inherent bias.

As part of our DEI initiative, we recently introduced the Alliance for Women of Edifecs (AWE) affinity group. The goal of AWE is to provide support for women associates and to help make Edifecs a better and more collaborative place to work. AWE is a global affinity group open to men and women. AWE’s mission is to create and foster an inclusive community that promotes the growth of women through open dialogue, mentorship, support networks, and events that develop and empower our members.

Much is heard about your employee practices. What are the different things that you’ll do to keep your employees motivated and productive?
This all ties back to our holistic wellbeing approach mentioned above. We truly try to consider every aspect of our associates’ wellbeing: physical, mental, social, career, and financial. We strive to provide the classes, tools, resources, and opportunities to enable our associates to approach their wellbeing holistically and we extend these offerings to their families as well.

We have introduced the “Highly Productive Edifecs” (HPE) work model, which empowers Edifecs employees to work from wherever they feel most productive. This model is designed to eliminate the stress of commutes, finding time to go to the doctor, and picking up kids from school.

What is your India vision / plan for 2025?
India is and will continue to be a highly strategic location for the foreseeable future. Our India team is integral to our product development, implementation services, and customer support.

There is tremendous talent in India and we have a robust recruitment team to help make sure we continue to draw top talent for years to come. Because our benefits are exceptional and our teams are so strong, we are able to attract top talent. By retaining this top talent, we become an even better place to work and more attractive to incoming candidates- adding strength to strength. We will definitely continue to refine and update our benefits to ensure we are able to offer Edifecs associates one of the best places to work in India.

We also invest heavily in our local philanthropic efforts including:
Set up the Digital Community Center (DCC) in 22 villages of Punjab to enable children to become changemakers who solve village issues and continue learning even when schools are closed. So far we have been able to impact the lives of 780 children and create 19 change-makers of which 18 are women.

Welcoming different NGOs and charitable organizations to visit our office

Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs to create a new generation of financially empowered women in the villages of Punjab.

Sponsoring local causes: We also co-sponsored a tri-city marathon whose cause was Run Against Drug Abuse. More than 60 of our associates participated in the event.

Volunteer Day: Associates at Edifecs are entitled to 1-day time off to support volunteer activities that enhance and serve India’s communities

Responding to crisis. For example Edifecs hosted aCOVID-19 Relief Initiative where our associates donated a day or more of their salary culminating into 221 days that supplied:

Ration packs (two week supply for a family of 5): 18603

Beneficiaries: 58,931

Villages reached 407

Ration distributed: 231,095 Kgs

We know that India will continue to be a critical location for Edifecs and we will continue to invest in the talent and communities of the region for years to come.
